Lenka Jurikova after the final in Prague: I didn’t want to retire

During the last weekend, Lenka Jurikova (23) was in the final of the ITF tournament in Prague. If she wasn’t injured, maybe she would take the title, but final is also good. She spends lot of time in  the LOVE 4 TENNIS Academy, because her brother is one of the coaches there.
Lenka Jurikova played against Ekaterina Alexandrovna from Russia in the finals in Prague. She lost in three sets 3-6 6-3 2-6. She was restricted by an injury. “I was injured, unfortunately. I have inflamed tendon on my right hand above the wrist. Even in the semi-final against Pochabova, I was in the pain,“ the 497th player of the WTA ranking started to explain.
“Before the final, I had been doing everything that was possible to stop the pain. But nothing had changed. I had a problem to hold my racquet, but I didn’t want to retire. I was just tossing a ball over the net. The Russian player did realize that I had sore hand in the third set and that was decisive,“ said Lenka who is taking a few days off. After two weeks, she is travelling to Dubrovnik, Crotia for another two ITF tournaments.
More than year in LOVE 4 TENNIS Academy
Lenka has begun to practice in the LOVE 4 TENNIS Academy last summer. Her brother Peter Jurik is also a coach there. „I used to go to L4T because of sparring sessions with men and women. Since my brother also coaches in the Academy, I practice mostly under his supervision. But now there is such a situation in Bratislava that it is hard to find a sparring. The Academy has an ideal environment and coaches,“ added Jurikova.
